For as long as we can remember, we've been working with Yancey Seibert Shearouse. Her Augusta, Georgia interior design firm has been creating delightful designs just about as long as we have. With over 27 years of interior design experience, Yancey's work isn't only mature, it's timeless.

What inspired you to fall in love with and eventually become a designer?
I am from Natchez, Mississippi. The incredible architecture and furniture was always influential, but I have loved to build and design since I can remember. Ole Miss had an interior design program and I thought that could allow me to do both.
We know you live and work in Georgia. How does your hometown play a part in the work you do?
Augusta is a wonderful city close to the beach, the mountains and to two metropolitan cities. It also is the home of the Masters. Since most of our clients rent their houses for the tournament, we are always helping them upgrade, redo and better their homes…on a yearly basis.

Growing up, what was your favorite room in the house?
I grew up in the house my mother grew up in. The front of the house had great light and huge windows. I loved the Hepplewhite sofa in the living room and the fact you could see up and down the street.
What is your favorite room in your space now?
I love my Living Room. It has lots of my pretties and you can see the foyer and dining room from it.

Do you have any favorite spaces you’ve created? What made them special?
I have many favorites because each project is so different. When the client trusts me to really work my vision, it usually turns out better than they could have imagined and reflects them. We had a project in Nashville that wrapped up last summer (with several SDD pieces) that came together beautifully. The client truly trusted us and made some bold decisions! The finished product is a YSS fave.
We love your subtle and classy use of color. What’s your favorite color to work with right now?
Oh goodness…we love color around here, all colors except maroon. I just really can’t.
Where do you source a lot of the beautiful pieces that you use in the spaces you create?
We source all over. We have accounts with lots of manufacturers, but also have small town antiques stores, Chairish, 1st Dibs, Etsy, Instagram…you name it.
Do you have any design predictions for Spring? Give us the scoop!
Design predictions for Spring…We have a few projects that we just shot and they are very colorful. Lots of fun and happy colors. I think the use of patterns will stop being so scary. Layers of pattern.
